Product ManagerBasic Function:
To develop and execute 3-year strategic and 1-year operational business plans for a group of products that is
in line with the company’s long term and annual plans, including preparation of a prioritized list of product
development projects with timetables and business rationale, thereby helping achieve long term revenue and
profit goals. The Product Manager will become an expert on the product line through contact with
customers, industry experts, suppliers and internal personnel and will support achievement of the plans
through strong personal leadership in product development projects and through interaction with all internal
and external customers.
Work Performed Includes:
- Conducts customer and competitive research for target markets for assigned group of products
- Manages the entire product line life cycle from initial development to discontinuation
- Specifies market requirements for current and future products
- Prepares and presents “Basis of Interest” proposals on new product ideas and product improvement/cost reduction projects
- Prepares the business plan for product development projects including business rationale, product positioning and customer and market requirements. IP strategy, branding, form and functions requirements, etc.
- Drive solutions on development teams through establishing customer, market and company business requirements as well as product positioning. Serves as the advocate of the customer and the internal voice for the product development project
- Participates in creating the intellectual property strategy to define what, if any, trademarks, utility and/or design patents may be pursued that will provide economic protection and value to the company
- Delivers the annual sales, gross margin and contribution after marketing expenses. Develops and manages pricing and margin strategies
- Attends conventions to support introduction of new and improved products
- Monitors sales and financial results of new and improved product launch
Desired Requirements To Qualify For This Position Include:
- Bachelors degree required, Marketing, Business, or Economics preferred…MBA a plus
- Five (5) years of successful experience in product management, preferably in business to business equipment
- Proven track record of initiating actions and achieving results
- Strong business acumen including understanding of financial principles that impact profitability
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Background in performing arts is a plus
